Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will plunder the loot box to obtain a battle pass
Temps: Oct. 21, 2019Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is only a few days before its release on October 25, and Activision has finally announced how the game economy will govern the next shooter. Modern Warfare will be the first Call of Duty game to use a Battle Pass system instead of random, often malicious, loot boxes to add content and cosmetics to players.
The popular Fortnite Battle Pass system allows players to purchase the pass early in the season and unlock several items. The Modern Warfare system seems to be extremely similar to the Fortnite model. Players can buy a passport at the beginning of the season and have full transparency about what they contain, how and when they are unlocked.
Like the Fortnite Pass, each season's Battle Pass includes free premium content. Even if you don't have your passport, you can unlock it during the game. Players can also accumulate COD points with the Battle Pass. In addition to the Battle Pass, there will be a store in the game that will sell cosmetic content that players can buy directly.
However, Activision will not launch the Battle Pass on October 25 at the same time as the game. The company claims that it wants to focus on the initial launch at this stage and give players the opportunity to unlock existing content that the base game will provide earlier to add a new batch of new content. Instead, the Battle Pass will be launched later this year, although no other details have been announced.
The introduction of a Battle Pass instead of random loot boxes (and exploiter) is just Activision's latest initiative to make Modern Warfare easier to use. The company offers multiplatform games for multiple players for the first time and is committed to providing additional cards and modes for all players simultaneously on all platforms simultaneously, in order to avoid splitting the player base.
